Explorer and BAFTA Award winning presenter, Bruce Parry, joins us to talk about his feature documentary, Tawai: A Voice from the Forest. The result of 4 years work across Borneo, India, Malaysia and the Amazon, it charts his returns to reconnect with the tribes from his BBC adventures. The film is directed by Bruce himself, and co-produced with Adam Bohling, producer of greats such as Eddie the Eagle, Kingsman and Kick-Ass. The film is set for release this Autumn.
Bruce became a household name with prime time BBC2 documentary series Tribe for which he received Royal Television Society Award for Best Presenter and the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best On-Screen Presenter. Other critically acclaimed TV shows include Blizzard: Race to the Pole, in which Parry lead an expedition across Greenland for a period remake of Scott’s fateful last trip to the South Pole; Amazon, which won Bruce his second Royal Television Society Award for Best Presenter and a BAFTA award for Factual Series; and Arctic. Famed for his un-patronising style of investigation into difficult subjects in extremely remote and testing locations, Bruce’s documentaries have been acquired by over 150 countries cementing his place as one of the world’s most successful documentarians.
