Chibundu Onuzo was born in Nigeria in 1991. Her first novel, The Spider King’s Daughter, won a Betty Trask Award, was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Commonwealth Book Prize, and was longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize and the Etisalat Prize for Literature. She is completing a PhD on the West African Students’ Union at King’s College London.

Her new novel, Welcome to Lagos, lets loose a colourful cast of characters across the streets of Nigeria’s unforgiving capital city. As moving as it is mesmerising, Welcome to Lagos is a novel about the power of our dreams for the future and the place of morality in a sometimes hostile world.
