Katie Jones is an inspirational knitwear designer that teams playful aesthetics with serious ethics! The brand’s #WASTENOT approach utilises designer surplus and celebrates artisanal hand craftsmanship, with all pieces being consciously crafted in the brand’s London studio.
Katie graduated in 2013 from MA Fashion Knitwear at Central Saint Martins under the late Professor Louise Wilson, OBE. Having worked with John Galliano, Diane Von Furstenberg, Mark Fast and Romance was Born, she launched her eponymous label for Autumn/Winter 2014 with the British Fashion Council’s Estethica Emerging Talents.
Handcrafted luxury Womenswear consciously crafted in London. Each piece is a labour of love and produced by an intimate team of workers including Katie and her Mum, Annie. The brand celebrates traditional and detail intensive processes focusing in Crochet, Knit, Denim and Leather work, with garments being unique oneoff’s, bespoke or made to order to celebrate each garments individuality.
The brand focuses on sustainable practice embracing Katie’s Granny’s vision of making something beautiful from nothing and consciously addressing issues of over-consumerism and landfill, the brand creates wearable, artisanal collections that are big on colour and texture. Materials are sourced from designer surplus, factory seconds, textile waste and British made product; Katie then pairs and tailors designs around the materials available.
More than just creating beautiful garments, the brand creates playful experiences that encourage and champion social and environmental change. Katie Jones was part of 2016’s Selfridges Bright New Things initiative championing sustainability winning the Bright New Things Bursary Award and receiving a full window installation for 3 months in 2016 and in 2017.
