Robert Fox’s first job was as an actor. Subsequently he worked as a runner for John Heyman at World Film Services. He then went to the Royal Court as an Assistant Director. In 1973 he joined Michael White Limited where he became an Associate Producer on a number of shows including A Chorus Line, Annie and The Rocky Horror Show. Since 1980 he has produced or co-produced over 50 productions in the West End as well as a number on Broadway.

His production of Another Country by Julian Mitchell gave Rupert Everett, Kenneth Brannagh, Daniel Day-Lewis and Colin Firth all their West End stage debuts. He has worked on many occasions with Dame Maggie Smith – including The Lady in the Van; with Michael Gambon for Skylight and Harold Pinter’s The Caretaker; on Broadway with Nicole Kidman for The Blue Room; and with Al Pacino on Salome. His work on musicals has included Chess by Tim Rice, Benny Anderson and Björn Ulvaeus; Stephen Ward with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber; and in 2015, he produced Lazarus, directed by Ivo Van Hove, written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh, and starring Michael C Hall.

He has worked with directors such as Nicholas Hytner, Anthony Page, Richard Eyre, Trevor Nunn, Patrick Marber and Stephen Daldry.

His film credits include IRIS starring Judi Dench, Kate Winslet and Jim Broadbent, The Hours starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore, and Notes on a Scandal starring Dame Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett & Bill Nighy.
