The Comet is Coming

The Comet is Coming is the soundtrack to an imagined apocalypse. In the aftermath of widespread sonic destruction what sounds remain? Who will lead the survivors to new sound worlds? Who will chart the new frontier? In 2013, in a warehouse somewhere in London, a meeting would take place between three musical cosmonauts.

In 2016, this London / Alpha Centuari trio’s debut album was nominated for the Mercury Prize –impressive crossover for a kru who draw on the far-out sounds of Sun Ra, Frank Zappa and the BBC Radiophonic Workshops and whose members are known as King Shabaka, Danalogue The Conqueror and Betamax Killer. Song titles such as Do The Milky Way and Slam Dunk Through A Black Hole preview the glorious cosmic clatter they get from sax, synths and drums – a brilliant brew of jazz, electronica, funk and psychedelic rock. Get ready to space-rock to Uranus and beyond.
