Venue: The Bowling Green, on Saturday.

Three Cane Whale has been described as being like a modern version of an ancient English folk music that never existed.

Three Cane Whale are:
Alex Vann (Spiro) – mandolin, bowed psaltery, zither, bouzouki, tenor banjo, hammered dulcimer
Pete Judge (Get The Blessing) – trumpet, cornet, tenor horn, harmonium, dulcitone, lyre, chimes, glockenspiels
Paul Bradley (Scottish Dance Theatre) – acoustic guitar, miniature harp

Even though we primarily see ourselves as a gigging band we have had a lot of involvement in television and film. Bafta award winning filmmaker Emma Lazenby commissioned us to compose for two of her short films and our music is used extensively on television documentaries and radio plays. Last year the independent feature film Brown Willy (‘Cornwall’s answer to Withnail And I’) exclusively used our music. This year the Bristol venue St George’s has commissioned ten filmmakers to each come up with a filmic response to ten of our pieces for performance in April.
