In 1975 Rick and Jill started The Seafood Restaurant. Rick ran the kitchen with Jill running the front of house with an additional three employees. With Rick’s natural cooking abilities and Jill’s instinctive customer service and interior design skills the business has continued to grow over the past 38 years and they now employ an average of 350 staff year round, peaking at around 450 during the busy summer season, 90% of whom are local to Cornwall.
The Seafood Restaurant is recognised for its sound business ethics and support of local and sustainable produce and services supporting local suppliers as much as possible. The brand has become world-renowned for its commitment to this and has also been recognised for many awards.
Jill has no formal qualifications in interior design. Her passion for interiors, which developed through the necessity of undertaking all the interiors for the business as it expended, led her to establishing Jill Stein Interiors in 2009. Jill has recently completed a £6 million development on the North Cornish coast and is currently working on several projects including a development on Lake Windermere.
