With two successful albums in his back pocket, Jonnie Common is known for making some of the strangest noises ever to translate into such catchy, digestible pop songs. Electronic but also harnessing elements of traditional instruments, this is an artist who doesn’t quite fit into any box perfectly and that’s just how he likes it.
His blueprint of precisely loose beats, unwitting samples, cunningly spoken lyricism and dreamy production easily translate into the living fabric of music. Combined, they make for songs which sound light and entertaining at first, but actually have far more depth than first listen, ensuring that once you get past the simple enjoyment of the hummable stuff, there is plenty more to enjoy.
