Artists / Moksha (Michelle Watson)

Moksha (Michelle Watson)

at Port Eliot to share her hard hitting spoken word poetry.

After graduating with a BA in Drama and Theatre studies and attending   Drama Studio London, Michelle began her artistic life as an actress, with a  career, which included performing with The Natural Theatre Company, in Ken Campbell's, "The Warp" and as John Constable’s Goose in "The Southwark Mysteries".

Inspired by John's poetic form and Ken’s love for happenings she shifted her attention to writing and producing, becoming Moksha, a respected spoken word artist who for many years ran her own successful "It's a Thought Crime Cabaret" events at the 491 Gallery and other London venues.  She has co-produced on projects including, ‘The TAZ’, a temporary autonomous theatre, ‘The Questival’, a three-day event exploring human potential, “Festival Of Flight”, which put on large -scale music benefit events at London's Scala, and most recently on Daisy Campbell’s “Cosmic Trigger Play” and the “Find The Others Conferestival.”  She is passionate about young people and works as a creative consultant for  Bigfoot Arts Education and Brunel University’s Urban Scholars program, as well as writing issue based plays for teenagers, which are performed throughout the UK. A short film she wrote on self-harming for Roehampton University won an award for education.

She is currently editing her first book, a science fiction novel entitled Folium, creating a body of artworks to exhibit, and continues to work with young people suffering with mental health and behavioural issues.  She is at Port Eliot to share her hard hitting spoken word poetry.
