Actor, golfer and Chelsea fanatic, Phil Daniels’ career has spanned 35 years and includes cult roles such as Mike Leigh’s Meantime (1984), Alan Clarke’s Scum (1979), Quadrophenia (1979) and Blur’s Parklife (1994). His first book Class Actor was published in March, and he promises to bring a whole lot of energy and charisma to his Bird Effect performance.
Anna Scher Theatre graduate Phil Daniels’ career has included stage, screen and rock ‘n’ roll. From the classics at the Royal Shakespeare Company to Eastenders he has always stayed true to his working-class roots, lending his roles authenticity and integrity. Phil got his big break playing the lead role in the cult 1970s film Quadrophenia (1979) and looking back on the experience says “If I had a pound for every time someone mentioned my intimate scene with Leslie Ash I’d be very rich.”
His latest role is Grandad Trotter in the prequel film to the BBC series Only Fools and Horses – Rock and Chips (2010) – released on DVD in April.
Phil’s autobiography Class Actor (2010) was published in March and in it he talks about growing up in London’s Kings Cross and how he was almost a pop star but became an actor instead.
