Violet is an East London bakery founded by former Chez Panisse pastry chef and food writer, Claire Ptak. Started as a market stall in 2005, the bakery opened on Wilton Way in 2010.
This year sees Violet Bakery bring California via East London to Cornwall as a pop up bakery inside the picturesque Port Eliot Orangery.
Sit in the beautiful newly refurbished glass house Orangery or on tables in the adjacent walled garden while the baking smells surround you for an oasis of calm amongst the excitement and frivolity of the festival.
Start your day with a delicious breakfast of freshly baked cinnamon buns, almond polenta muffins with seasonal roasted fruits, earl grey tea-soaked prune scones, or their Californian avocado toast with a soft boiled egg and optional streaky bacon.
Come back for their seasonal quiche with a side salad of local grown leaves or their cheesy crispy cheese toasties.
Pick up an Allpress Coffee east London-roasted flat white pulled by their own baristas, a delicious cup of Barry’s breakfast tea or choose from a selection of herbal teas from Postcard teas. Or you may prefer a chilled glass of rosé or something sparkling from their Rosé Bar. Throughout the day a selection of Violet baked goods, including cupcakes, loaf slices, cookies and cream scones will be available. All freshly baked on the premises.
Hang around at just the right time and you might catch Claire Ptak and her podcast partner Danielle Radojcin recording a Violet Session with some of the many wonderful Port Eliot performers. It’s going to be a treat!
They’ll also be demonstrating their cinnamon bun recipe at 9.45am on Saturday morning.
The Violet Bar will be serving natural wines, an Aviation cocktail, charcuterie plates and delicious cheese toasties. Open from 9am-9pm, we’ve got you covered for liquid brunch, lunch, tea and supper.
