After a fantastic inaugural year in 2010 – which saw everything from ‘an arrangement of foliage for a footman’s stag do’ to ‘an arrangement in a thimble for a tea party of mice’ – the Port Eliot Festival Flower Show returns in 2011 even bigger and better… This year’s categories include Lend Me A Tenor (an arrangement of black and white), Somewhere Over the Rainbow (a scarecrow) and Veg Factor (a vegetable sculpture to depict a singer/ popstar).
It’s free to enter this year, so why not try your luck? You don’t need to be a gardener or even an artist – just have an imagination, love of flowers and sense of humour. Our competitions do not conform to the usual etiquette of Flower Shows as prescribed by the NAFAS Competitions Manual. Technical mastery and floral precision are not a prerequisite – the Port Eliot judges are more interested in creative flair and originality.
