Braga Tanga
Braga Tanga
Braga Tanga are a four-piece band that create an exotic mix of world folk music, Eastern European gypsy tunes and a host of other mesmerising melodies from near and distant lands. Their live performances are a true musical journey and include French waltzes, Tango, Finnish Polskas, and songs from Sicily, Turkey, Africa – all delivered with passion and dexterity.
Braga Tanga are based in Cornwall but draw experience and inspiration from all over the world. The well-travelled musicians – Jim Carey on accordian, Claire Ingleheart on saxophone and clarinet, Pete Kubryk-Townsend on double bass and Chris Roberts on violin – have written music for film and theatre, including Cornwall’s Kneehigh and Hall for Cornwall, and have worked with the Eden Project and Wild Works. The list of musicians they have performed with reads like a Who’s Who of world music, including guitar hero Pete Townshend, Israeli virtuoso Gilad Atzmon, Jean Tousaint, Mervin Afrika, Hugh Masekela, Birelli Legrene and John Etheridge.
