How to find joy in January

You’ll know Nay as the radiant wonder who leads the more obscure sorts of yoga that we have in Lark’s Haven (pictured). For most of us, January can be a right old slog – so here’s Nay’s best tips for keeping your chin up, way up, until the crocuses poke their heads out.

Wake-up early!

Even though the mornings are darker, waking up early can still have its benefits, if I wake up in time for a relaxed morning getting my self prepared for the day in a calm way with lots of time. I can settle into the day ahead without rushing or creating anxiousness. My nervous system is feeling good.

Woodland walks

The trees give us life! If we embrace a good woodland walk every now any then you’ll notice how grounding it can be. Come back to a place of clarity. “Be like a tree. Stay grounded. Connect with your roots. Turn over a new leaf. Bend before you break. Enjoy your unique beauty. Keep growing.” – Joanne Raptis

Plan for gigs and events for the summer

Have things to look forward to. For me, it’s getting buzzed for music gigs and festivals – as soon as I book something, I transport myself to a place of warmth and fun times.

Start something new – a dance class or a type of yoga

This year I started to play the drums in an awesome local Samba band and I swear it got me through the tougher times. Once a week making loud noises and seeing some friendly faces was a highlight throughout the winter months.

Drink tea and hibernate a little!

Enough said 🙂
