The Woodward Brothers are Devon based musicians who combine beautiful music played on a variety of instruments with finely crafted poetry which reflects the green heart of the South West peninsula. Their eclectic mixture of influences and artistic interests make for a unique experience.
Marc Woodward is a renowned mandolin player and musician who’s taught and performed internationally. He’s played with numerous artists including John Renbourn, John Etheridge, and Peter Rowan amongst many others.
He’s also a widely published poet whose work is deeply rooted in the rural West Country. His latest project is a full collection ‘The Tin Lodes’ written in collaboration with well known poet Professor Andy Brown, concerning the ecology, archaeology and mythology of the West Country, and due for publication shortly.
Andrew Woodward is an exceptional artist, sculptor, film maker and musician. He graduated in fine art from Bath and his kinetic sculptures are in international collections.
He has been playing (and building) hammered dulcimers for over twenty five years and performs on the hammered and Appalachian dulcimers, as well as on psaltery and guitar.
He’s played with many excellent and diverse musicians - composing eastern influenced music with Tom Gloynes and tabla player Russell Harris, and playing the African township infuenced music of Wendy and Larry of Makiwa. He’s even rocked his dulcimer at Glastonbury in the eco-rock-folk band Catfood.
