Words at Port Eliot

Words have always been at the heart of the festival, and you can enjoy them at Port Eliot in all their forms: as fiction, lyrics, conversation, slam poetry – and even as the soundtrack to a film. We draw in a mix of writers, poets and journalists from cult heroes to breaking talent – all celebrating the intoxicating power of words in imaginative, interesting and entertaining ways.

Over the years we’ve welcomed the likes of Hanif Kureishi, Sarah Waters, David Mitchell, Louise de Bernières, Diana Athill, Rosie Boycott, Hari Kunzru, Caitlin Moran, Lauren Child, Helen Simpson, Alain de Botton, Justine Picardie, Marcel Theroux, Edmund de Waal, Gillian Slovo and Jay McInerny amongst many others.
