Now booking! Workshops & Outdoor Adventures

Join the gang!

To get the most from Port Eliot, we highly recommend getting stuck in and joining the vibrant Port Eliot community of makers and outdoor enthusiasts. Today we’ve released our full workshops and outdoor adventures programme, including our Hole & Corner masterclasses. As well as this little lot, there are tons of drop-in and free activities, plus the full talks, comedy, fashion, wellbeing and music programme - so rest assured you’ll be kept thoroughly entertained whether or not you book in.

Workshops & activities: viking games to kombucha-making

This year’s workshop programme is bursting at the seams with interesting activities that will furnish you with a new skill and most likely some new pals too. Among our highlights for this year are Viking tournament games: Kubb (which originally used the heads of their vanquished enemies), blind-folded pillow fighting and jousting. There’ll be Neon Naked Life Drawing - an experiment in light, colour and texture where the model glows luminous in a black-light - a lesson in mindful kombucha-making, and artistic masterclasses in portrait-painting, paper-flower-making and book-binding. And that’s a mere fraction of what’s in store - see the whole lot at the links below.

Hole & Corner programme lands

Hole & Corner returns to Port Eliot in 2019 to present ‘Create Connect Craft’ – a whole area dedicated to workshops, creativity, learning and good times! Workshops are now open for booking, and they include skateboard deck-making, blacksmithing, Aardman model-making, loom-weaving, paper-making and lots more. All of their workshops come with a free copy of Hole & Corner magazine worth £12.

Outdoor adventures: soak up the Cornish scenery

This year’s outdoor programme is a recipe for feeling your best: a generous helping of adventure with Canadian canoeing, tree-climbing and SUP yoga, a smidge of target practice with paintballing, archery, spear and axe-throwing, and a chance to soak up the gorgeous Cornish scenery with star-gazing, foraging and wild swimming - and plenty more besides. If this isn’t what summer was specifically made for, we don’t know what is!

Wine-tasting at The Rioja Wine Terrace

This year we’re bringing a whole Spanish wine region to the fest! Head over to The Rioja Wine Terrace to relax in their outdoor bar, try a diverse array of red, white, and rosé wines, enjoy a sample of expertly-carved jamón ibérico, and learn all about the delicious diversity of Rioja with Sunday Brunch wine expert, Raul Diaz. Based just a stone’s throw from Spain’s foodie capital San Sebastián, the Rioja region spans an 80-mile stretch of the River Ebro, with ideal conditions for producing some of the world’s finest wines.

Free & drop-in workshops: Idler & Fashion Foundation

Idler Academy at Port Eliot turns 10 this year! As usual they’ll be teaching essential life skills including beekeeping, ukulele and harmonica lessons, how to live, love and eat like an Italian to transform your life, how to swing dance like a pro with the Mudflappers, and much more. Head to the Idler tent on site to sign up.

And we’re very pleased to say that we’re bringing back the much-loved Paper Boat Parade. Join Frank Bölter writing poetry and making the paper into a boat ready for a grand finale, when he will attempt to sail from Port Eliot into the English Channel.

Join us at the Original Muck Boot Company’s Boot Room for foraging with Stuart Woodman, paper flower making and botanical illustration.

Join a free masterclass in the peaceful activism of yarn-bombing - just turn up.

Plus, there’ll be a full programme of workshops in the Fashion Foundation - more details coming next month, when we release the full fashion line-up. No need to book these, turn up on the day.
