Poet and critic André Naffis-Sahely was born in Venice to an Iranian father and an Italian mother, but raised in Abu Dhabi. His poetry has featured in The Best British Poetry 2014 (Salt), and his nonfiction writing has appeared in the Times Literary Supplement and New Statesman. He is also a literary translator and his translation of Beyond The Barbed Wire: Selected Poems of Abdellatif Laâbi received a PEN Translates award. His debut collection of poetry, The Promised Land, will be published by Penguin in 2017. He’ll be performing as part of poetry hour 11:30 - 12:30 on Friday.
