Matthew Fort has written about food over thirty years, most notably as Food & Drink Editor for the Guardian. He has been Glenfiddich Food Writer, Restaurant Writer and Cookery Writer of the Year.
His first book came in 1998: Rhubarb & Black Pudding told the story of the Lancastrian chef, Paul Heathcote and the Ribble Valley. Eating Up Italy, a book about Italians and their food, and based on a trip on a Vespa from the tip of Southern Italy to Turin, was in the Guild of Food Writers’ Books of the Year in 2005. His new book, published by Unbound this year, is A Summer in the Islands, which recounts a six-month journey among the Italian islands in 2014/2015.
Matthew presented The Greatest Dishes in the World on Sky and The Forager’s Field Guide on ITV, and was one of the presenters of Market Kitchen on the Good Food Channel. He is currently one of the judges for The Great British Menu on BBC2.
