Melissa Harrison’s first novel, Clay (Bloomsbury, 2013), was selected for Amazon’s Rising Stars programme and went on to win the Portsmouth First Fiction award; her second, At Hawthorn Time (Bloomsbury, 2015), was shortlisted for the Costa Best Novel Award.
