Benchmark are furniture makers who are widely regarded as the UK’s powerhouse of craft, with an unrivalled depth of knowledge of wood. Based in converted farm buildings in Berkshire, their love of making starts from the stewardship of trees, down to the hands-on-making by their highly skilled team. Founded 30 years ago, by Sean Sutcliffe and Terence Conran, they now have one of Great Britain’s most technologically advanced workshops. The company works extensively with hotels, restaurants and retail, as well as producing their own furniture range. Recent projects include the The Store x Soho House Berlin; London Library; and ACE hotel Shoreditch. Benchmark has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development and is proud to be at the forefront of the development of environmental Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in furniture making – a world first.
