Lorraine Candy has been editor in chief of ELLE and Elleuk.com since 2004. During her editorship, she has overseen a successful rebranding of the title, enjoyed increasing circulation and revenue and led the magazine to win ten awards in five years including a Yellow Pencil design award from D&AD and the BSME Editor of the Year award two years running.
Prior to working at ELLE, Lorraine was editor in chief at Cosmopolitan, features editor for The Times (working on the launch of Times 2) and deputy editor of The Times (Saturday) magazine when it was launched as a glossy title. She also edited B magazine, before which she was assistant editor of Marie Claire under Glenda Bailey’s editorship. Lorraine was also woman's editor of The Sun and Today newspapers and features writer for the Daily Mirror. She began her career in journalism at the Cornish Times at the age of 16.
Lorraine has extensive broadcast experience and regularly writes for newspapers such as The Times, The Guardian and the Daily Mail. She is married with four children.
