2017 will mark Caught by the River’s eighth year of talks, field recordings, cosmic disco, folk, and rock ‘n roll down by the estuary.
Born on a bankside, Caught by the River started as an idle conversation between friends Jeff, Andrew and Robin. It has blossomed into an online forum for all things outdoors - angling, birding, walking, drinking, listening and living - and boasts its own publishing offshoot, as well as a record label called Rivertones.
Caught by the River’s eclectic mix of past guests includes Viv Albertine, Don Letts, Tim Burgess, Gruff Rhys, Robert Macfarlane, Kurt Jackson, Chris Yates and Melissa Harrison. You can also catch some of Caught by the River’s favourite faces at the festival every year, including Andrew Weatherall, Pete Fowler, Emma Warren and Heavenly Jukebox DJs.
Accompanied by a bar, bookshop and the Drift Record Shop, this riverside plot is the perfect place to grab a pint, plonk yourself on a hay bale and become immersed in the lesser-known intricacies of the natural world. And don’t be fooled: these guys also know how to throw a pretty damn good party after dark.
