Over at Caught By The River, Saturday evening welcomes legendary DJ and raconteur Andrew Weatherall and Charlatan’s frontman and DJ Tim Burgess, with his own brand of dance and indie vibes. Earlier in the weekend Jo and Danny, founders of the Green Man Festival, will host a night of hand-picked music at the Fringe On Top event on Thursday. Then Rough Trade founder Geoff Travis drops in to join the party on Friday, playing “dance music for all ages,soul and more soul” as he DJs around an evening of eclectic bands including Stealing Sheep and The Bees. Jonny Trunk and Spoonful add eclectic daytime sets.
The thumping house beats of uber-cool Tim Lyall and the iconic Brandon Block will entertain revelers in the Sipsmith/Hg2 Bar on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Tim’s progressive techno sets have graced some of the biggest clubs in the world and Brandon is one of the greats of house music whose hedonistic lifestyle mirrors the exuberance of his Ibiza-inspired sessions.
Sam Potter and Andrew Faley from the popular band Late of the Pier bring a weird and wonderful Friday night of musical experimentation and The Bristol Hifi Soundsystem, , Wildcat Will and Ry Spenceley will also take to the decks.
And don’t forget the Boogie is back! Be sure to hunt down the Boogie Round bar for late night dancing to the sound of crackling 45’s. Nestled in a hedge at the bottom of the garden, this nighttime oasis promises DJs playing the best in funk, soul, disco, reggae and rock n’ roll, including Jon Kennedy, Mr Benn, Hot Buttered Soul and Frootful. Expect some VIP appearances from unannounced guests spinning their personal collections each night, too.
