We’re delighted that Hannah will be joining us to tell the story of how Thelonious Monk’s music changed her great aunt’s life – quite literally. The first time she heard it, Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter left her husband and five children to be with the jazz genius.
Virago published Hannah’s biography of her aunt, The Baroness, in May and acclaimed documentary The Jazz Baroness, voiced by Helen Mirren, was directed by Hannah and charts her journey of discovery of a love story against all odds.
Hannah will discuss the extraordinary power of Monk’s music with Spare Rib and Virago Press co-founder, Rosie Boycott
Hannah is a writer and director whose documentary features have appeared on the BBC, HBO and at numerous film festivals. Working Title and Ridley Scott optioned Hannah’s original screenplays and she also writes for newspapers and magazines including W, Vanity Fair, The Telegraph, The Times, The New York Times, The Spectator, British and American Vogue.
