Ged Wells

Ged first became well known as an artist in the mid-1980s while competing internationally in skateboarding, writing for skateboard magazine R.A.D and founding the Insane clothing brand. For Port Eliot this year, assisted by Dawsonix, he’ll be creating an elephant sculpture-filled, sound and light diorama in an elephant house (shed) entitled ‘Teleport Opto Elephonics’.

A diorama (Latin for ‘through that which is seen’) is a traditional picture-viewing device. Ged’s unique take on the diorama will feature a three-dimensional model of an extraordinary elephant fayre set in an imaginary landscape with an expanded herd of surreal elephant sculptures.”

Ged has exhibited in London and Tokyo. In 2011 he exhibited ‘Time and Relative Dimensions in Strawberry’, featuring painted collage displayed inside a transformed ‘strawberry’ telephone kiosk in Llanfrynach, Wales. Several of his sculptures also formed part of the ‘Fleurnication’ group show at The Modern Institute in Glasgow.

Ged’s Insane Clothing brand is re-launched this spring.
