Evan Dando
Boston-bred Evan Dando is the founding member and legendary front man of The Lemonheads. He also performs as a solo artist and released his first album, Baby I’m Bored, in 2003. His songs blend open-heartedness and good humour with and an aura of mystery and hypnotizing abstraction. Described as eclectic and affecting, Evan Dando’s collection ranges from bittersweet country rock to sly, pure pop rock.
Citied as one of the most important alternative rock groups of the 1990s, The Lemonheads broke through in 1992 with their excellent debut album It’s a Shame About Ray, with its lively cover of ‘Mrs Robinson’ becoming a massive hit single. The band morphed into the mainstream at a time when Nirvana’s success made alternative bands commercially viable. At their peak, Evan’s face appeared on music and teen magazines across America and the UK. They went on to enjoy more success throughout the 1990s with a cocktail of melodic music, harmonious vocals and a diverse dilated sound.
