Caroline Davey from Fat Hen - The Wild Cookery School will be taking budding wild foodies on foraging walks around the stunning grounds of the Port Eliot Estate over the course of the festival. Caroline is a forager, cook, former botanist and mum of three. She set up Fat Hen, whilst on maternity leave in 2007, from her converted barns in West Cornwall. Using her professional botanical knowledge, combined with her lifelong obsession with all things gastronomic and a tenacious will to seek out the good life; she runs courses in all aspects of foraging and cooking wild food. In collaboration with Fat Hen’s chefs, Caroline offers a range of wild courses including foraging, seaweed cookery, fish & seafood cookery, game cookery, wild Italian cookery and wild food cookery for children.

Caroline’s guided foraging walks will be one hour long and include advice on foraging safely and legally, gourmet recipe ideas, ideas for introducing wild foods into your family’s weekly menu, historical facts and anecdotes and some basic medicinal facts.

Bring cameras and notebooks if you want to document any of the plants we see.
