Clare Pollard

Clare Pollard’s first collection of poetry, The Heavy-Petting Zoo, was written whilst she was still at school, and received an Eric Gregory Award. Her fourth collection Changeling is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. Her play The Weather premiered at the Royal Court Theatre.

Clare works as a teacher for Arvon and The Poetry School, and has written and presented two television documentaries and one for radio, ‘My Male Muse’, which was a Radio 4 pick of the year. She has been Managing Editor of The Idler and co-edited the poetry anthology Voice Recognition. Her many translation projects include Poems by Caasha Lul Mohamud Yusuf, and her latest book, a new version of Ovid’s Heroines.

At the Idler Academy Clare will be giving a lecture about Ovid’s radical text, which allows the women of Greek and Roman myth to tell their side of the story, and be performing some of the poems.
