Richard Benson

Richard Benson is a journalist and author. His first book, The Farm: The Story of One Family and the English Countryside, was published by Hamish Hamilton in 2005, and it was a number-one best-seller, shortlisted for The Guardian First Book Award, a Radio 4 Book of the Week, and Richard and Judy Book Club choice. His latest, The Valley: A Century in the Life of a Family, has just been published to rave reviews. It traces four generations of his mother’s family in the Dearne Valley in South Yorkshire.
