Mathew Clayton is a freelance writer and events organiser based in Sussex. He is a co-director of the Port Eliot Festival, runs a literary tent at Glastonbury Festival and produces the books and spoken word programme for the Brighton Festival. He has contributed to two recent nature writing anthologies Caught by the River: Words on Water and On Nature: Unexpected Ramblings on the British Countryside. He has previously worked for Random House, Channel 4 and the Guardian. He is currently writing a book with the illustrator Anthony Atkinson about the islands round Britain.
