The Boathouse featuring One Minute Disco
The Boathouse launched in the summer of 2007 – a new semi-autonomous area within the festival. Hosting a programme of artists, musicians and writers and a candlelit paper boat armada which set sail at dusk, it also introduced the hugely successful One Minute Disco to Port Eliot.
Created by artists Samuel Levack, Jennifer Lewandowski and Joel Levack, plus a collaboarive team of chess pieces and Greek goddesses, it followed on from their 2006 event performance in the Maze - The Diamond Maze Masked Tea Dance.
This year Samuel Levack and Jennifer Lewandowski will curate a new series of unique art events and performances taking place in and around The Boathouse as well as returning with the One Minute Disco.
One Minute Disco is all about fun and the human need to step outside our individual selves and embrace collective madness. Like a modern reference to the old-school raves of the late 1980s… for these speeded up times. One Minute Disco happens on the hour, every hour, for one minute only, featuring the first minute of the Billy Idol hit ‘Hot in the City’. The location is The Boathouse. There are dancers on the roof of a Land Rover. Stranger, stranger… One whole minute of fun and wild abandon. See you in an hour.
