Andrew Bolton

Curator of the world-famous Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Andrew Bolton will be doing a special event with iconic fashion designer, Anna Sui. Known for his colourfully groundbreaking exhibitions, Andrew has curated everything from Men in Skirts (at the V&A) to WILD – Fashion Untamed; Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy to Blithe Spirit: The Windsor Set. His knowledge of fashion is as cutting-edge as it is diverse.

Andrew’s interests are truly global, covering topics such as the image of Chairman Mao to Chanel and Anglomania, Tradition and Transgression in British Fashion to Chanel. He is co-author of a number of books, including (with Harold Koda) Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy (2008), Men in Skirts (2003), The Supermodern Wardrobe (2004), and Wild - Fashion Untamed (2004). He has also contributed book and exhibition reviews to journals, newspapers and magazines including Blueprint, The Observer and The Independent.

From 1999 to 2002, Andrew was the Senior Research Fellow in Contemporary Fashion at the V& A and the London College of Fashion. He’s also an advisory member of the influential Fashion in Film Festival.

Andrew’s perspective from both sides of the Atlantic, along with Anna Sui’s Stateside view, promises to make this a fascinating event.
