Edward Fox

Edward Fox OBE is an actor with a long and varied career on stage, television and screen. His film accolades include The Day of The Jackal (1973), A Bridge Too Far (1977) and Gandhi (1982). He has enjoyed a successful career in television and his work includes Edward & Mrs Simpson and the BBC’s adaptation of George Eliot’s Daniel Deronda. We’re delighted to welcome him to Port Eliot this year, where he’ll be reading TS Eliot’s ‘The Wasteland’.

Best known for roles requiring aristocratic qualities, his television appearances include Quartermaine’s Terms (1987) and Edward & Mrs Simpson (for which he won the 1978 BAFTA Award for Best Actor). His films include The Importance of Being Earnest (2002), The Shooting Party (1985) and he also played ‘M’ in the James Bond film, Never Say Never Again (1983).

Edward was awarded an OBE in the 2003 New Year’s Honours for his services to theatre and British cinema. He currently lives in London and is touring nationally this year with An Evening with Anthony Trollope.
