Stephen Jones
Millinery maestro Stephen Jones is a leading light in the fashion world, having created hats for Christian Dior, John Galliano and Marc Jacobs amongst many others. He was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards in 2009, and will be creating one-off hats for festival-goers in the Walled Garden’s new Fashion Tent, doing an event with US Vogue’s Sarah Mower and running a special floral hat-trimming workshop at the Flower Show.
Stephen burst onto the London fashion scene during its explosion of street style in the late 1970s. His clientele has ranged from Princess Diana to Marilyn Manson, and his era-defining edge for design has seen numerous celebrities and icons seeking a headline-making hat from him over the years.
His work is represented everywhere from the V&A Museum in London to the Louvre in Paris and the Brooklyn Museum in New York, with US Vogue describing him as “a deft conjurer, who can draw whimsy from a hat. Steeped in couture lore and craft, he nevertheless propels his art into the future with his ceaseless invention and thistledown touch.”
“Stephen Jones is the maker of the most beautiful hats in the world.”
Italian Vogue
“Stephen Jones is possibly the most original milliner working today. His hats echo Schiaparelli’s from the 1930s, but are always completely up to the minute in mood. “
