Alex Box
One of the most influential make-up artists of our time, Alex Box’s theatrical, conceptual style explores the relationship between art, science, nature and the magical. Her work has featured on the catwalks of Gareth Pugh, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Biba, plus countless magazines including Vogue. Don’t miss the incredible opportunity to explore and create your alter-ego with a unique Alex Box makeover in the Walled Garden at this year’s festival.
Alex began her career as a fine artist, studying at Chelsea College of Art. For her degree show she exhibited installation art exploring the relationship between the body and the environment. These themes continue through her work today and can be seen in her first book, The Make-up Artist (2009), which she co-published with photographer, Rankin. Unconventional to say the least, she’s even been known to incorporate Post-It notes into her creations.
Alex also runs make-up workshops and is the creative director for cosmetics company, Illamasqua.
“One of the brightest new make-up artist talents to emerge since Pat McGrath.”
