Tim Dee

Tim Dee is a radio producer at the BBC. His memoir of his life as a birdwatcher, The Running Sky: A Birdwatching Life was published in 2009, and he’ll be sharing some personal reflections from his book as part of The Bird Effect event.

Tim graduated from Cambridge then studied Hungarian poetry at the University of Budapest. A birdwatcher since the age of three, he worked as a research assistant for the International Council for Bird Preservation. He co-edited the anthology, The Poetry of Birds (2009) with Simon Armitage. He is currently working on a new book about four fields around the world.

“The great thing about Dee is that he is not a twitcher — he doesn’t rely on rarities for his kicks.”
The Times

“Dee’s prose is often lyrical and frequently elegiac.”
