Jeremy Mynott
Jeremy Mynott is the author of Birdscapes: Birds in our Imagination and Experience (2009) and “the birdwatcher extraordinaire” (ABC Radio). He has spent years traveling the globe to pursue his lifelong interest in birds, and will sharing his experience and knowledge with us at The Bird Effect show on Saturday afternoon.
In Birdscapes, Jeremy explores the boundaries of why it is humans love to observe birds, taking on the experiences of everyone from Aristotle to Sherlock Holmes in his bid to find answers. The result is what the Guardian describes as “the finest book ever written about why we watch birds” and acclaimed as “insightful and fascinating” by The Birder’s Library.
Jeremy is a fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge and former Chief Executive of Cambridge University Press. He is currently working on a translated anthology of writings about birds in the ancient world.
“Mynott’s lightness of touch, combined with his depth of knowledge, experience and above all perception, create a thought-provoking and compulsively readable book.”
