Antony Elvin

Antony Elvin is a singer/songwriter whose songs promise to take you “on a spree through a London of your dreams! Gaslit yet modern – pastoral yet subliminally violent…” He’s appeared (albeit briefly!) in The Mighty Boosh, gigged at The Big Chill and is also a member of Princes in the Tower and Circulus. His song ‘Among the Dandies’ also features in the soon-to-be-released Mighty Boosh documentary Journey of The Childmen, directed by Oliver Ralfe of The Ralfe Band.

Singing in a strong English accent, Antony sings about the characters he meets and the romances of the day without the vulgar baggage of angst. For live gigs, he brings a guitar, pianist Stefan Melzak and Early Music woodwind specialist Will Summers of Medieval/Prog/Psyche band Circulus. With a hearty “Sharoo!” he skips onto the stage launching into his tales of “Perfect London”: Bromide-drenched hansom cab rides to doom, Bachelor Chambers, a Fancy Man with bulging purse, and ‘The Cheese Song’ – the tale of a young lady with an aversion to cheese… All in a costume which might be a gorgeous kimono or breeches, and cobalt doublet for casual.

In addition to his appearances at the festival with Princes in the Tower, Antony will be giving Port Eliot punters an exclusive preview of Hot Brew, an exciting new comedy act he will be taking to the Edinburgh Festival. Together with Perrier Award-winning actor, Alice Lowe (Garth Merenghi, Hot Fuzz, The Mighty Boosh, The Harry Enfield Show), he’ll be performing in a hilarious spoof husband-and-wife folk-duo who worship the ‘Big White Radish’, wear hessian and cork and listen to vegetables.

“I do hope you will enjoy our romp together,” he says. “I shall write about it in my memoirs!”
