Stephen Moss
Stephen Moss is a television producer, writer and broadcaster specialising in British wildlife, especially birds. He’ll be discussing why we watch birds and sharing other insights with Ceri Levy as part of The Bird Effect event.
Stephen works at the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol, where he has been responsible for many successful series, including Birding with Bill Oddie, Big Cat Diary, The Nature of Britain and Springwatch. He is currently producing Birds Britannia, a series on the cultural and social history of birds and the British, for BBC Four.
Stephen regularly contributes to magazines and radio programmes and writes a monthly column on birdwatching for The Guardian and is published in This Birding Life: The Best of the Guardian’s Birdwatch (2006).
His books include A Bird in the Bush: a Social History of Birdwatching (2005), A Sky Full of Starlings (2008) and The Bumper Book of Nature (2009).
