Lauren Child

Lauren Child is considered one of the most talented children’s book author/illustrators today. Her first two books were published in 1999, which included the start of the Clarice Bean novels. She then won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal in 2000 for I Will Not Ever NEVER Eat a Tomato, the first of her Charlie and Lola books. The Charlie and Lola stories went on to sell in their millions and have since been adapted into an animated series for the BBC which has won four BAFTAS and is aired in more than 34 countries.

Lauren also launched UNESCO’s ‘My Life Is a Story’ Campaign in 2008 for UNESCO’s Programme for the Education of Children In Need. She was named as a UNESCO Artist for Peace later in the year.

Lauren’s talk at Port Eliot this year will be a treat for adults and older children alike. (NB It’s recommended for over-8s rather than the Charlie and Lola audience).
