Blending poetic, heartfelt country rock with gritty songwriting and a romanticised ‘bar room hope’ sound, Treecreeper’s debut album Grain (2007) gained much critical praise. Brothers Will and Greg Burns formed the band in 2005. After a childhood spent skateboarding and ingesting a diet of US hardcore and indie, Will began to hone his songwriting talent playing shows solo before Greg, along with schoolfriends Adam Killip and Steve Blackwell, were recruited to flesh out his songs. Their sound is a welcome addition to the continuation of classic rock and folk traditions.
