Annie Nightingale

Annie Nightingale MBE is as much in love with music today as she was four decades ago when she become the first woman DJ on the BBC and blazed a trail for equality in broadcasting. She went on to become the host of the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1978 and embraced the new world of punk and new wave. When Annie first went out on air in 1970 Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and John Lennon were still alive, today she still pores through hundreds of demo tapes everyday week searching for new music to bring to her loyal audiences.

She is also the author of two biographies, Chase The Fade and Wicked Speed, and a host of music documentaries.
