Zanzibar Cats: Roy Hutchins performs the new poems of Heathcote Williams.
Heathcote Williams is perhaps best known for his epic poems, Whale Nation, Autogeddon and Falling For A Dolphin, which were interpreted and performed by Roy Hutchins to huge international acclaim a few years ago. Now they have gathered a collection of new, short poems to engage and entertain. There are poems about Einstein’s brain, Cleopatra’s nose, bicycles, invisible dogs, celebrity, books, death and Counting Cats in Zanzibar.
“Autogeddon is rich poetry, a sociologically important document that will hang around long after Williams has left us, and gold in the grip of Roy Hutchins.”
- The Stage
“I love the thin ice on which Roy is skating. He stays within the realm of “entertainment” - smiling, jollying the audience along - but moves us just to the edge of outrage.”
