Willy Vlautin

“One of America’s most fundamental artists in words and music” (Mojo), Willy records as Richmond Fontaine (a band he formed with bassist David Harding in the late 1990s in Portland, Oregon) and has written three novels, The Motel Life, Northline and Lean on Pete. He cites writers such as William Kennedy, Jim Thompson and Barry Gifford, plus songwriters like Strummer, Springsteen and Shane McGowan, as his major influences. Willy’s books and music are set around the American West and focus on people from the lower rungs of society – gamblers, boozers, drop-outs and crooks. At Port Eliot he’ll be both reading and playing music.
