Luella is a keen observer of the idiosyncracies of the ways the British dress. Her lively and humorous relish of national plumage in its various habitats inspired her collections as a designer, and now her findings are the material of her book: Luella’s Guide to English Style.
Returning to Port Eliot this year, she’ll be leading a Bird-Spotting Expedition throughout the festival, looking for examples of “creative, witty, fearless, pioneering, curious, sharp, contrary, rebellious, nonchalantly wrong and above all, original” dressers – and asking them to talk about what they’re wearing on stage. This is in addition to Luella’s vastly popular annual fixture: the clothes-making session she conducts with Barbara Hulanicki.
