Blending the melodic noise of My Bloody Valentine, the lush vocal harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel, and the influence of guitarists such as Johnny Marr and Thurston Moore, Gravenhurst is a consistent yet ever evolving sound-world with a fanatical cult following. Fans are known to buy two of everything; one to listen to, and one to have signed, hang on a wall and stare at until they collapse.
Gravenhurst is the collective name for the music of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Nick Talbot, who lives in Bristol and is signed to Warp Records. After touring extensively across Europe and the USA – both as a headline act and as support to bands including Belle & Sebastian and Animal Collective – Nick will be playing a special solo show at Port Eliot, accompanied by guitars and various drone-making electrical devices.
Currently completing a new album due for release later this year, he’ll be taking this opportunity to showcase a selection of new material alongside some old favourites. The audience may shout requests.
