Telltales
From funny poetry to inventive prose, intriguing novel extracts to thought-provoking scripts, Telltales’ reading nights entertain and inspire Cornish audiences every month; showcasing talent from across the writing spectrum. After the success of its Port Eliot tent last year, Telltales return with compère Mac Dunlop, poetry editor of Cornish World Magazine, to bring a slice of their locally baked wordpie to the Walled Garden.
Telltales is the monthly night for readers, writers and listeners in Cornwall’s writing scene. Open to all forms of writing, it’s the place to hear short stories, novel extracts, poetry or prose.
Mac Dunlop creates satirical worlds of performance poetry. As well as being the poetry editor of Cornish World Magazine, he writes and produces a radio show on London’s Resonance FM called Unspoken Words, a series that reflects on a single word and what that single word can inspire. He also helps run the Caravanserai Project on Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula, a project to run writing workshops and Fireside Sessions of poetry, music and storytelling.
Taking inspiration from the Walled Garden at Port Eliot, Telltales and Mac Dunlop will be serving up literary treats from Cornwall’s finest writing talent, all playing with the theme of Hidden Secrets. The programme will mix up-and-coming writers with established wordsmiths to create a dynamic and eclectic selection of what Cornwall’s writing scene has to offer.
