Farnaby Brass
The Farnaby Brass Ensemble is a Cornwall and Devon-based brass quintet that honours the music of 16th century Cornish composer Giles Farnaby. Formed in 1976, the Ensemble has performed at festivals all over the UK, and at major venues such as the Barbican, and on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4. Their repertoire draws on influences from classical music, jazz, baroque and 20th century works, which is a suitable ode to Giles Farnaby’s works.
The members of the Farnaby Brass Ensemble have had distinguished careers in music, including holding seats in the London orchestras, working in West End Theatre, and holding senior positions in music services. In 2004 they worked alongside Sir David Willcocks, Aled Jones and the Royal College of Music Chamber Choir, to record Carols for Christmas, which was aired as a concert on network television.
