Todd Longstaffe-Gowan

Todd Longstaffe-Gowan is a landscape architect, designer and historian. He is advisor for Historic Royal Palaces and has designed gardens for Hampton Court and Kensington Palace, as well as overseeing a variety of acclaimed projects across the globe, such as the Boboli Gardens in Florence. He’ll be presenting ‘Enchanted Groves: ephemeral indoor gardening in Regency London’ as part of the new Port Eliot Flower Show area.

Todd is also the author of two books on the history of gardens, The London Town Gardens (2001) and The Gardens and Parks of Hampton Court Palace (2005), and is presently preparing a book for Yale University Press (London) on the history of the London Square, c.1600 to the present. He has been praised for his “sublime interpretation of classical gardens,” and says his work “is imbued with whimsical, historical eclecticism.” Todd is also in the process of re-presenting Kensington Palace Gardens (the 11-acre pleasure ground around the Palace) to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen in 2012.
